Chinese figures

For [livejournal.com profile] jantojones. These scenes of daily life in early 20th century China are over a hundred years old, so I donated them to Durham University's Oriental Museum. They were probably brought back from Shanghai by my Great Uncle on a visit home in 1906. He lived in Shanghai, working for a tea merchant, from about 1905-1937 when he was killed in the Japanese invasion.



They are mostly around 6-8cm tall

These are tiny pipeclay figurines (all-too-easily damaged, sadly)
