A fellow debutante to the Journal
Aug. 7th, 2017 11:36 amHi
I joined this community only very recently, and I'm inspired to contribute because of Jantojones' debut post, which I spotted only yesterday. She lives not far from me in the north of England, and it would be good to meet online. We both live in beautiful medieval cities with amazing cathedrals. I was in Durham only the other day.
My home is about 40 minutes away by train. I've lived in York since 1972, apart from a period of internal exile, working in Cambridge. It's impossible to live among southerners when you've lived up north. I was born in Devon, but my grandfather came from Cumberland, so I'm part northern, anyway - Vikings forever!
My lovely husband is a lot older than me (he's exactly two years younger than DMcC - where did I go wrong?). I first fell for him him more than 50 years ago when I was less than half his age. He was 30 and naturally didn't notice me till much later. (If at a loss for something to do, the arithmetically inclined can work that out). We celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary last month — well, when I say celebrated, in fact we both forgot it till quite late, on the actual day.
