This was filmed in 1973, the year after I married and moved to York. It was when much more careful attention began to be paid to the physical remains of this 2,000-year-old city — mainly influenced by the first archaeologist interviewed here.

I know both the archaeologists in the film. They're still around, but 48 years older, like me, though it doesn't seem all that long ago. 'Blue Peter' is a children's TV programme.
