It's a start

My husband, aged 85, received his first Covid vaccination this morning at a mass vaccination centre in York (UK). We have no car, so he used a local volunteer service called York Wheels to get him there which cost a relatively small amount compared with a taxi — it's only about five miles away, but it's several degrees below and very icy underfoot, and who wants to use public transport?
His driver, though younger, was apparently an elderly fusspot — my husband is far from gaga or elderly, I'm glad to say — and insisted on accompanying him every step of the way, even into the vacc centre where it was crowded and social distancing impossible. However, he got his jab and and was brought home. The second one is booked for sometime in April. Sadly, I'm not eligible for another two or three months, till after my 70th birthday, but it's a start! Until a new variant proves resilient to the vaccination...
